Training for Speed, Agility, and Quickness
Published in Paperback by Human Kinetics (T) (September, 2000)
Authors: Lee E. Brown, Vance A. Ferrigno, and Juan Carlos Santana

Great help for improving base performance
We purchased the book a few weeks ago and since using the program my daughter is a new person. After learning the basic skills in each of the three categories: speed, agility and quickness, she has increased both her performance and attitude. She is working on her volleyball skills and is improving her reflexes. She really enjoys the drills. She has been practicing some of the rolls and moves even when she is not working out.

The guidance is what she really needed and has really helped her athleticism.

This is the text that I have been waiting for!
No need to spend valuable time searching your files for various drills any longer. These coaches have placed drills into separate categories for our convenience. The combination of old and new drills will make your conditioning sessions more enjoyable for the athletes, and will certainly meet the training objectives of any coaching staff. There is a section which has sample programs that will give athletes, parents, and coaches solid advice on how to develop and organize a SAQ program that can be tailored specifically to fit individual needs.

Transformations of Consciousness: Conventional and Contemplative Perspectives on Development
Published in Hardcover by New Science Library (January, 1986)
Authors: Ken Wilber, Jack Engler, and Daniel P. Brown
Average review score:

dusty, but still therapeutic!
just one personal comment: merely reading the definitions of "split life-goals" and "dark night of the soul" by Wilber saved me several months (years?) of struggling - the book provides a novel structure of psychopathology and if you have a structure you have something to hold onto. very therapeutic book for (post)existential-level strugglers!
***
i really like the brief and concrete style of the older books by Wilber (Atman Project is my favourite!), although, according to Wilber himself, they contain slightly outdated ideas. don't start with it, but don't forget it!

Finally!!!
Where have the thoughts in this book been for so long??? Transformations of Consciousness thinks critically about issue's in psychology and spirituality that are so important and would seem so obvious, I wonder how they've managed to escape us all so completely. Primarily, this text brings attention and profoundly questions the motives of the psychological as well as contemplative schools in such a fundamental way as to expose unaddressed pervasive issues that ignorence of which can constitute avoidable casualties to mental and spiritual health. Emphasis is placed on recognition of developmental/phase specific aspects of what constitute appropriate therapeutic and spiritual practices. Specifically, when is meditation harmful as opposed to benificial. What are any of the obstacles in selectively transplanting eastern contemplative practices into the western cultural context? What can both eastern and western traditions contribute to and learn from each other? Wilber, Engler and Brown both impressed and stimulated me with the extraordinary depth and far reaching implications of their considerations. Now, I know why my experience in an eastern influenced spiritual community was bound to end in disillusionment and what has unconsciously motivated so much of my frustrating seeking! What better gift could you ask for?? If therapy has been repeatedly ineffectual, costly and disappointing, or if despite your interest in spirituality you've felt something was missing that you have had difficulty articulating; This book will articulate it. What a glorious Gift!! This book is my BIBLE now!

The Trumpet of Gabriel
Published in Paperback by Queenship Pub Co (July, 2000)
Author: Michael H. Brown
Average review score:

Definitely worth the money
I read the 1994 release of this book from my local library and I liked it so much that I am going to purchase it.

It mainly deals with the end-times and how we are living in them now (the trumpet is to the lips, even), according to hundreds of reported apparitions, many Scriptural passages, natural catastrophes such as earthquakes, floods, and hurricanes increasing rapidly, and more.

Much of the work mainly contains reports of apparitions from angels to very religious individuals and even to unbelievers, turning their hearts to Christ as a result. There are even relations of the apparitions of the Virgin Mary at Medjugorge and Fatima, as well as many others. He points out, though, that many apparitions have been known to be deceiving spirits (siting some of the known false ones), and he leaves it up to you whether to accept them as such or not.

He also goes in to how there are many deceiving spirits fooling a lot of people with psychic phenomena (he was at one time a sort of "paranormal investigator", in a scientific sense, and even interviewed Uri Geller). He even mentions how fallen angels and demons tie in to the UFO abductions and sightings. Also, this one really surprised me (I did NOT expect to see it mentioned), he mentions the connections between the beast in Revelations and the Illuminati!

Overall, I found it to be an excellent book which compiles many reports, writings, and events into an easy to understand book on just what the heck is going on in these confusing times, and with a Christian perspective.

His bibliography in the "Notes" section is wonderful, too.

Buy it, it's definitely worth the measely ten bucks.

Enlightening
I just finished reading this book. It is written for all Christian denominations. It presents the warnings being given to people on this earth over the last 30-40 years as well as instances of spiritual interventions on earth over the same time period. It is objective and allows the reader to decide for themselves whether or not to believe. He also balances with stories of false apparitions. It is a good general introduction to modern day apparitions, prophesies, and interactions with the spiritual world-the world of the "heavenlies". You will re-think your perceptions of the world we live in.

Un regalo de arrullo para niños

Just good. Realmente Bueno
Julio Salazar / Venezuela

A Child's Gift of Lullabyes in Spanish
This set of recordings is a Spanish translation of the album "A Child's Gift of Lullabyes". The English version received several honors including: Grammy Award Nominee - Best Musical Album for Children RIAA Certified Platinum - for sales of more than one million copies American Library Association - Notable Children's Recording

Even though I don't speak Spanish, I much prefer listing to this version over the English version. The music is beautiful, and both my first child and my new baby really seem to become quiet and listen when I play them. I'd say this recording is a must for parents. There are 9 lullabyes, followed by instrumental versions of the same 9.

Romance that whispers to your heart
Unforgettable is so different from Ms. Smith-Brown's last book Plantation. A romantic suspense that kept me--as they say-- turning the pages! A warm, feel good kind of novel. Makes one believe fairytales really DO come true. Looking forward to her next book.

Unforgettable
Fern Smith-Browns Unforgetable is a joy to read. It's a love story with intrigue, suspense, chivalry and endearing characters you won't soon forget. I found it most enjoyable reading.

Unhandcuffing God
Published in Paperback by Colbert House (February, 2002)
Authors: Howard Caver and James Brown
Average review score:

Unhandcuffing God - never knew I held the key, till now.
"Unhandcuffing God" became the inspiring nudge I needed to take some steps of obedience I had previously avoided due to stubborn fear and pride. God used this book to encourage me to trust Him and allow Him to work the miracles in my life He has been waiting to perform. Like many believers, I was unaware I was even capable of handcuffing God in my life. This book opened my eyes and my life.

In his book, Howard Caver takes the reader through his own real life times of choosing to believe God is who He says He is. You will read about trusting God with your life, reputation, money, family, career, ministry, time and more. You will read the dramatic results of one man's persistent and consistent trust and obedience in his Lord Almighty. There are too many powerful examples to ignore. The book seems to shout with a smile, "God can and will, if you allow Him."

This small 146 page book is an easy read filled with life changing truths and written in a style that leaves the reader feeling loved and encouraged. What a blessing! I have given more than 10 copies to friends. They are now asking for copies to give their friends. WOW!

I think this book could be one of the miracles God has worked through this man's choice to unhandcuff God in his life. Thank you Howard Caver!

Why You Must Get "Unhandcuffing God"
Review: Unhandcuffing God

Author: Howard Caver

For anyone who has wondered if God still uses ordinary people like yourself to accomplish extraordinary things, Howard Caver's "Unhancuffing God" is a must read. The pages of this book are filled with real life experiences of a regular man in North Texas, who does the extraordinary.

Impossible mission after impossible mission is documented in a strait forward manner that draws you into wanting to know what is going to happen next. However, this is not just a history book or an autobiography. For every principal Caver presents, he joins its application to a real life victory that God brought together for him and his small congregation.

As I read through the book I was most impressed by the fact that Rev. Caver seemed to have discovered the secret to answered prayer as well. Although this is not a book on prayer, you become comfortable knowing that he relies time and again on prayer to unhandcuff God's hand in his life.

His non-preachy writing style allows you to assess your own usability by God in relationship to the clear principals outlined for acquiring God's provision and direction in every area of your life.

This book will both comfort and challenge. It leads the reader to feel good about the fact that God wants to use each of us to accomplish the impossible if we will just "unhandcuff" Him and allow Him to work. Great Read 5 Stars

Vigilante Days and Ways (Sweetgrass Books Reprint Series)
Published in Paperback by Farcountry Pr (June, 2003)
Authors: Nathaniel P. Langford, Dave Walter, and Richard Maxwell Brown
Average review score:

A thrilling primary source!
This account of one of the most fascinating eras and places in Old West history thrills the reader more than fiction could possibly do. I read this book as a kid and it remains one of my all time favorites. (Studying the Old West is my hobby, and I teach high school history.) The characters Mr. Langford presents from his own observations are more colorful than any invented by Zane Gray, for example. I'm surprised that no feature film has be made on Henry Plummer. His duel role as sheriff and bad man has been depicted several times stereotypically in Western movies, but no actual account of his life in the early gold-rush towns of western Montana has yet been done. Dimsdale's "The Vigilantes of Montana" is the most well-known primary source of vigilante action in Montana, but his was written much later after the fact. Mr. Langford's book came fresh from his memory of his own participation in the dealings of vigilante justice to "clean up" the commonplace violence in old Virginia City and Bannock, Montana.

First person account of Vigilante justice in MT.
If you want to read about the rise and demise Henry Plummer and his band of cutthroats, this is the best book I can recommend to you. Langford was the executive secretary of the Virginia City MT vigilence committee and he "tells it like it was". This book's dust jacket says in effect the book's victorian prose is worth wading through to hear a stirring first person account of the MT vigilante's activity - and that comment is nonsense. Langford's tale may ramble on occasion and his prose may be stilted on occasion. However, you will probably feel your sphincter tighten as the good guys start kicking dry goods boxes out from under cutthroats who, unlike today's criminals, knew justice was being served with dispatch. It's history, but a moving story told like no one else could.
